Corman and Rempe lead Sandy Creek during Class D state meet in Columbus

Sophomore Keaton Corman and senior Connor Rempe would set the tone for action at the Class D State Golf Championships on Columbus’ Quail Run Golf Course.

The duo fell short of medal contention, and the top 15 individually, but Corman finished in a four-way tie for 18th place, carding a two-day 170, as both days, players played 18 holes. Corman fired an 83 on opening day, while finishing day two with an 87.

For Rempe, the senior finished in a three-way tie for

31st overall, as Rempe shot scores of 82 on day one and 94 on the final day to finish play with a 176.

Sophomore Evan Swartzendruber finished in a threeway tie for 77th, as he opened play on day one with a 97, and finished the second day with a

101 to total 198 total strokes in the tournament.

John Skalka’s two-day run led the freshman to a 99th place finish, as he totalled

239 strokes, shooting a 120 on day one and a 119 on day two of competition, while junior Jaxen Heath finished 100th overall, shooting a 244, with a day one score of 123, while on day two, Heath finished with

a 121.

As a team, Sandy Creek was

14th overall, with a total score of 783, as the Cougars totalled

382 strokes on day one and 401 on day two.

Creighton ran away with the team title over Loomis, outscoring the Wolves by 17 strokes, as Creighton finished with a 683, while Loomis finished at 700, just one stroke ahead of the third place team, North Central, who shot a 701.
