With the holiday season now a memory and new year just beginning, a reflection back on a week of holiday tournament games, fun with friends and a little down time certainly leads all of us who follow teams from Clay County to a beginning of a new year that assures us all many busy days and weeks ahead.
The week produced three tournament champions as the Sandy Creek boys and girls both captured tournament titles at home Friday night, while the Sutton boys plowed their way to the tournament title at the Freeman Holiday tournament Friday night.
The Sutton girls earned runner-up honors at Freeman, while both the Harvard boys and girls captured consolation game wins to set the wheels in motion for the second half of the basketball season.
I’d measure the week of games as a success for all teams concerned. Now bring on 2012!
Wrestling teams gear back up for the Mustangs, Cardinals and South Central Red Raiders this week, as the Mustangs travel to Wilber for the Wilber-Clatonia Duals Friday, while South Central challenges the field at the Tri County Invitational, also on Friday.
Friday and Saturday sees the Harvard grapplers travel north to the two-day High Plains Invitational in Clarks. So hang on folks, here we go!
