Edgar 14U Softball Wins League Title

The Edgar 14 and Under girls softball team would recently finish up their 2012 softball season with a trip to the Class D state championship tournament, held in Hastings.

The team, which finished 11-6 overall would capture their League championship, winning four of five games in the league tournament. Edgar would crush Campbell and Lawrence, winning over Campbell 19-4 and Lawrence 13-3 to open tournament play. In the final three games, all against Blue Hill, Edgar would go 2-1, winning game one 9-8 before falling 6-1. In the tournament final, Edgar blitzed Blue Hill 12-8 to take top team honors in the league tournament.

Edgar would go 2-1 in district play, beating Friend 7-5 and Hebron 12-0 before falling 6-2 to Milligan.

State tournament action in Hastings would see Edgar open with an 18-10 thumping of Louisville before falling to eventual state runner up Blair 12-5, before a 9-2 loss to Gothenburg would close out the season for Edgar with their 11-6 record.

In regular season action, Edgar would chalk up five wins in six games. Edgar beat Lawrence 11-7, trip Sutton twice, 4-0 and 8-6 and simply bruise Kenesaw in two run away wins by the scores of 13-4 and 17-7.
