Coming off a pair of disappointing losses to two Twin Valley Conference foes, the Harvard Lady Cardinals hopes of their first win of the season rang loud and clear as they returned to the court Thursday, Sept. 13, taking on the Lady Mustangs of McCool Junction inside the Birdcage at Harvard High School.
With the fever running high inside the walls of the Harvard gym, fans and student body alike were anticipating the Lady Cardinals first taste of victory. Harvard didn’t disappoint as the Lady Cards flew away with an impressive 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 win over McCool Junction to improve to 1-9 in front of their home crowd on Parents Night.
Tiana Barnes, Katie Bell and Alyssa Novak gave McCool Junction a healthy dose of power at the net, collected 18 of the Lady Cardinals 26 kills in the match.
Barnes led with eight kills while Bell and Novak both ended the win with five kills each.
Three girls led Harvard in the service lane as Jennifer Callahan, Shelby Smith and Barnes all collected five aces.
