Man....was Milford not the place to be Monday night???
Clay County teams go 3-3 on the night, starting with the Sutton Fillies bouncing back after a disappointing loss to Superior in the semifinal round of the Southern Nebraska Conference to take care of a little “bidness,” to crush the home court advantage for the Lady Eagles of Milford and cruise to an excellent third place finish in the SNC battle, winning 56-33.
Stepping on the court for the SNC girls championship game...the last unbeaten team in class C-1, the Sandy Creek Lady Cougars!
The Lady Cougars, though having to deal with a tad bit slower pace, and lower scoring game took care of their charge for the night, downing Superior 55-40.
The nightcap, a barnburner of huge proportions in many ways for the Sutton Mustangs.
Sutton entered the SNC boys tournament as the third seed. Limped their way past Superior in the first round.
Still limping in the first half against David City in the semifinal round, the Mustangs quickly stood tall, battled back and with a huge second half surge blew past the Scouts 68-59 to move onto their next big challenge of the tournament...Milford.
