A stiff field of challengers would face the Sandy Creek golf team as they hit the links at Southern Hills Golf Course in Hastings for the annual St. Cecilia Invitational, held Thursday, April 26.
Gaining a total of 12 medals during the 2012 Southern Nebraska Conference Track and Field Championships led the Lady Cougar track team the rights to hold down the runner up spot over Heartland by a mere four points, which proved to be the true battle Saturday in Sutton.
Scoring in the 2012 Southern Nebraska Conference Track and Field meet proved to be a tough challenge for the Sandy Creek boys this past Saturday, but a strong showing in the field events and a second place finish by the Cougars’ 1,600-meter relay team would provide enough points for Sandy Creek to claim seventh place in the tightly contested team standings at days end.
Brady Shipley’s seventh place individual finish during action in the Cougars own invitational, held at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Clay Center, April 17, would help his Cougar teammates gain third place team honors in the 10 team event.
Twenty-three total medals, powered by a total of 14 medals on the track would lead the Sandy Creek girls track team to a dominating win during the Blue Hill Invitational, held April 17.
