Fresh off of their tournament championship title at Adams Central Sept. 28 where the Sandy Creek volleyball team knocked the Superior Wildcats from the ranks of the unbeaten, a trip to Milford to challenge the then 10-4 Lady Eagles would continue Sandy Creek’s new found success as the Southern Nebraska Conference match between the two team proved to be a classic down to the wire battle.
With a the Sandy Creek Cougars in the midst of an extremely challenging season, Friday nights home battle with the Jeffs of Fairbury High School proved to be a golden opportunity for the Cougars to notch their first win of the 2013 football season.
Kaylee Fike and Shaun Eborn would set the pace for the girls and boys South Central Cross Country teams last week while in action at the Thayer Central Invite, Sept. 16.
With the momentum clearly shining bright on the Lady Cougars, their final task at hand would be to avenge yet another loss on the year, this time, taking on the Southern Nebraska Conference leading Superior netters who remained unbeaten on the year with wins over both Centennial and Centura leading up to the bout with Sandy Creek Saturday afternoon.
The going got no easier last Friday for the Sandy Creek football team as the winless Cougars, taking to the road, dropped a tough 53-7 decision at the hands of the Syracuse Rockets, an unbeaten team in Syracuse.
