High hopes would open the season for the Harvard Cardinals football team. Goals to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2004 rang loud and clear.
A tough season on the volleyball court would close out for the Harvard Lady Cardinals Nov. 4 when Twin Valley conference foe, Red Cloud, would bounce the Harvard girls from the D1-6 Sub-District tournament, played at Adams Central High School, west of Hastings.
Twin Valley Conference tournament action would see the Harvard volleyball team pick up its second win of the season, beating the Lady Flyers of Franklin, a team that gave Harvard its first win of the season back on Sept. 5 in straight sets.
It had been a season of blowouts for the Harvard Cardinals through the first six games. In the team’s two wins and four losses, the average point differential was 37 points.On Friday, it was just three points.
The Hampton Lady Hawks, coming into their Oct. 10 home match with the visiting Harvard Lady Cardinals would improve to 11-10 on the year as Hampton gained a 25-5, 25-12, 25-8 straight sets win over Harvard.
