After a sweep of Minden in double header action just two nights prior, the Sutton Senior Legion Baseball team earned three more wins during action in the 12th Annual Jack Van Kirk Memorial Tournament this past weekend to improve to 8-2 on the year.

The home field in Edgar proved to be to the liking of the Davenport-Edgar Senior Legion baseball team last week as the guys in blue used a three run first inning, combined with single runs in the third and fifth innings to down a strong Hebron Seniors squad 5-3, June 5, before returning to the home field June 6 to take down the Doniphan-Trumbull Seniors by way of the 10-run rule, beating D-T 13-3 in five innings.

Sutton’s Tyler Bailey, a standout for the Mustangs’ wrestling team has been selected to represent Nebraska, along with 30 other wrestler’s from across the state, in the 2013 AAU Scholastic Duals, better known as the Disney Duals, which will be held in Orlando, Florida June 29 through July 2.

Weekend action for the Sutton Senior Legion baseball team began with a huge performance by pitcher Lance Spongberg in a 5-0 win over the Millard Sox during first round action of the Wahoo Tournament Saturday and Sunday.
