Pressure defense would produce 27 Kenesaw turnovers during Thursday night’s regular season finale for the Sandy Creek girls basketball team as the Lady Cougars produced a 54-33 win as Sandy Creek began preparations for this week’s C1-2 Sub-District tournament in Seward.

Trialing 21-18 after the first half of play, the Sandy Creek boys found a way to fight off the pesky Kenesaw Blue Devils Tursday, Feb. 9 and improve to 13-8 following the win.

The coach of the Hastings High School girls bowling team had been asking Harvard High School sophomore Mikayla Novak since she was in the sixth grade to come bowl with the team. Last year, she decided to accept the invitation and this year helped lead the Tigers to a State tournament appearance this past weekend in Lincoln.

Havard senior Shane Keasling will be making his fourth straight state wrestling appearance this weekend after battling for a third place finish in the D-1 District meet, held in Columbus on the Central Community College campus.
