Friesen shoots 1-under 35 to lead the field of 28 on home course

Senior Jadyn Friesen set the tone for the Sutton golf team during quadrangular action at the Fox Hollow County Club, during action that was hampered by constant wind gusts well over 20 miles per hour.

Despite the lackluster playing conditions, Friesen wrapped up the nine-hole action with a one-under par 35 to lead the field of 28 golfers on the Mustangs’ home course.

The Mustangs, as a team, fired a 163 to outlast second- place Deshler by 13 strokes, as the Dragons ended the round with a 176.

Fillmore Central finished third with a 183, while the Deshler reserves finished with a 213.

Following Friesen for Sutton was senior Aidan Jones with a third place 40. Harrison Herndon shot a 41 to place fourth, while David Fonseca shot an 11th-place 47, while rounding out the varsity for Sutton was Billy Marshall, who was 12th overall with a 48.

On the reserves side of the quad, Brayden Griess placed eighth with a 45, Wyatt Pollet shot a 10th-place 46, and Cale Nuss was 26th overall with a 61.

Sutton’s JV squad finished the round with a 244.
