Sophomore Jadlynn Kinney will be the lone representative at the 2025 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships this weekend in Omaha. Kinney ran to a personal best gold medal win in the 400-meter dash during the C-7 District meet in Wood River, Thursday, May 15.
Kinney’s PR time of 59.62 seconds edged out Sandy Creek freshman Madison Shaw for the gold medal, as Shaw finished the one-lap sprint in 59.87 seconds to also advance to the state meet.
Sutton’s 1600-meter relay team made up of Chloe Bergen, Kinney, Madylinn Bautista, and Katie Baldwin, placed third overall in the event with a time of four minutes, 21.32 seconds. St. Paul and Sandy Creek, who both qualified for state in the event, finished first and second, respectively.
St. Paul finished first with a time of 4:11.77, while Sandy Creek was second with a time of 4:15.87.
Bautista also medaled in the 300-meter hurdles with a sixth-place time of 50.48 seconds. Event winner, Zaya Lewis of St. Paul won with a time of 46.56 seconds.
Bergen, Shephleigh Ohrt, Julie Smith, and Mia Ochsner placed fifth overall in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 11:39.63. Sandy Creek won the event with a time of 9:48.65, which is the fastest qualifying team in all of Class C for the state meet.
Lindsey Ladehoff, Kinney, Kaci Yost, and Baldwin placed sixth overall in the 400-meter relay with their time of 53.87 seconds. St. Paul claimed gold with a time of 50.91 seconds.
A pair of field event medals started the day for the Fillies, as Addision George tied for fourth place with Sandy Creek’s Caitlyn Biltoft in the high jump, as both cleared 4’8” in the event. St. Paul’s Piepyr Klinginsmith won with a 5’2” leap.
In the discus, Miranda Nuss placed sixth overall with a personal best throw of 109’7”. St. Cecilia’s Abigail Musalek won with a throw of 136’6”.
