Four Sandy Creek Cougars earned state championship honors during the 2025 Nebraska State Track and Field Championship in Omaha May 23 and 24. In the left photo, Madison Shaw claimed gold in the 1600-meter run, winning the race in five minutes, 16.15 seconds and breaking the school record set in 1991 by Laurie Herbeck. Her time was nearly 44 seconds faster than her district qualifying time of 5:59.87. In the photo at the right, Shaw teamed up with Emma Fisher, Paige Stengel, and Anna Paus to set yet another school record with a gold medal time of 9:46.55, breaking their own school record set at the C-7 District meet in Wood River May 15, which was clocked at 9:48.65.
