The Saronville Shiners 14 and under baseball team ran their record to 9-7-1 on the year with a two-game split in action this past Memorial Day weekend in Omaha, earning a 6-4 first game win over a Millard squad, before falling to a team called the Legends, 8-3.
Game one would see the Shiners get outhit in the two-run win, as Millard held a 6-3 edge at the plate. However, four fielding errors by Millard, along with five walks to the Shiners, led to Saronville’s big win.
Millard held a narrow 3-2 lead after three innings of play, but the Shiners battled back in the final three innings, outscoring Millard 4-1 to pick up the win.
Kaige Jones had the big stick in the win with a tworun home run, while Camden Wehrmen and Kellen Ebert both drove in one run on a single for each. Bradyn Eikmeier was also credited with a run driven in on a walk from the Millard pitching staff.
Handling Saronville’s pitching duties were Jedt Livgren and Wehrmen, as they combined to give up one walk, while striking out nine, while allowing the four Millard runs on their six hits.
