Sutton’s own Myles Smith will soon be taking his golf game to a new level of play as Smith, the son of BJ and Meredith Smith of Sutton, qualified to play in the 2025 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships in Miami, July 20-25.
Smith qualified for the international tournament at the June 5 Optimist Midwest Regional Qualifier tournament at the York Country Club.
The international tournament will take Smith and his family to the Trump National Doral Resort in Miami to compete against golfers in the 14-15 year old age group from all over the world in late July.
He qualified for the tournament by shooting an 18-hole 74 in York.
Smith is currently leading the 14-15-year-old Nebraska Junior Golf Association’s summer tour in his age group with 337.5 points. He has also won two tournaments on the Nebraska tour, including wins at the North Bend Country Club and at the Southern Hills Country Club, located southwest of Hastings.
