Dugout Days kicks off Thursday with carnival in Sutton

A full weekend of family fun and activities is set for the annual Dugout Days in Sutton, June 26-29.

Thursday, June 26, begins with a spaghetti bar at the Sutton Legion at noon. Born & Raised Boutique will be open from 4-6 p.m., with the annual carnival opening at 5 p.m. Also at 5 p.m. is the Small Town Shop & Sip at the Legion.

The Flat River Grill is offering food and drink specials from 5-10 p.m.; they will be having this offer again on Friday and Saturday.

A German food buffet will be set up at the Legion from 5-9 p.m. Katti’s Authentic Mexican will be in front of the Legion at 7 p.m. She will be there again Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Friday’s events begin early with an open house at Erstwhile 1884 (304 S Way) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Swimming activities go for an hour starting at 11 a.m. at the pool, with the annual fishing contest beginning at 1 p.m., at Clark’s Pond.

A roast beef buffet will begin at noon at the Legion. Free swim at the pool goes from 3-5 p.m., and then from 5-7 p.m, the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department will host its chicken barbecue at the city park.

Also at the park, there will be Cow Patty Bingo beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the Little Tuggers Tractor Pull at 6:30 p.m. Sign-up begins at 6 p.m.

The West Wind Band will be playing in front of the Sutton Fire Department from 8:30 p.m.-1 p.m., with a beer garden.

Saturday begins with the Run For A Resident 5K & One-Mile Run at 7:45 p.m., at the Sutton Community Home.

The dodgeball tournament goes from 9 a.m.-noon in the city park, with kids races slated for 9:30 a.m., also in the park.

Bounce houses, zipline, and Roaming Greens Miniature Golf will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the city park.

The Show and Shine Car Show will be set up at Butler Estates from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. There will also be Edgerton Explorit Demonstrations at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m., at the Sutton Federated Church.

Food and drink options at the park include: Pour Horse Coffee Trailer, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; beef sticks and walking tacos, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tropical Sno, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; hot dogs and nachos, 10:30 a.m.; and Chickfil- A food truck, 11 a.m.

A cornhole tournament will begin at 11 a.m., in front of the fire hall. Lunch and polka to Delores Kimminau will go from noon-3 p.m., at the Legion. A pickleball doubles tournament starting at noon, at the city park.

The power wheels demo derby will begin at 2 p.m., at Aspegren Repair; the burnout contest will begin at 3 p.m., also at Aspegren Repair. Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. for both events.

The carnival opens at 5 p.m. The Legion will be serving a prime rib buffet from 5:30-9 p.m.

The Dugout Days parade, themed “Heroes and Legends,” will begin at 6 p.m. Lineup at 5:15 p.m. at the Sutton High School parking lot; the parade will head south down Saunders Avenue.

Rounding out the evening will be the Dillon Gaige Band from 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m., in front of the fire hall.

Sunday, June 29, will be a day of food and golf. The Legion will offer a broasted chicken buffet from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Additionally, the adult/ child nine-hole alternate shot golf tournament will begin at 10 a.m., at the Fox Hollow Golf Course.

At 1 p.m., the two person nine-hole scramble golf tournament will begin, also at Fox Hollow Golf Course.

From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the Jamber-Q food truck will be out at the golf course.
