The Sutton Junior Legion baseball team, coming fresh off of their Hebron tournament title June 22, rolled to another pair of wins during mid week last week, crushing Doniphan- Trumbull 16-2, June 24, before handing Wilber an 11-1 loss, June 25 at DLD Park in Sutton, improving Sutton to 9-11 on the season.

The road trip to Doniphan would see pitchers Aydan Banta and River Glinsmann combine for a no-hitter against D-T. In three innings of work, Banta walked six, struck out five, and allowed two runs, while in relief, Glinsmann worked one inning on the hill, without giving up a walk.

At the plate, Banta also had a big night for Sutton, going 3-3 with a double and two singles, while driving in three runs. Remington Behmerwohld drove in four runs behind a pair of doubles, while Kaleb Ostrander was a perfect 2-2 with a pair of singles.

In addition, Creighton Jones added a double in the win, while DJ Hajny and Brody Borgmann both hit for a single.

Sutton rolled to a 7-2 lead at the end of three innings of play, then tagged D-T for nine runs in the top of the fourth to end the game with the 16-2 victory.

A return home to DLD Park for the Sutton crew was a quiet night at the plate for Sutton, as only Juan Reyes and Hajny recorded hits, as both singled in the game for Sutton’s two hits.

Wilber had four hits in the game, but six walks to Sutton hitters, along with hitting four Sutton batters, led to Sutton’s 11-1 win.

Glinsmann and Michael Lockhart worked the game on the mound, with Glinsman throwing for two innings. He issued no walks, struck out two, and didn’t allow a run or a hit.

Lockhart walked one, struck out four, and allowed four hits and the lone Wilber run in the contest.
