Clay Center’s Fourth of July celebration has a full day of events planned, starting with a USA Fun Run at 7:30 a.m., at E Sutton Street.
Registration is at 7 a.m., with the race starting at 7:30 a.m. The race is about two miles all on pavement. The course will be marked with corner signs and painted on the roads to help guide you along the way.
Breakfast on the square will follow the run, and the Spoon House will open at 9 a.m. for breakfast.
Three Pink Elephants is celebrating its one-year anniversary and will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
A book walk on the square will start at 9:45 a.m., hosted by the Clay Center Library.
The annual parade, themed Pawsitively Patriotic to celebrate Clay Center Critter Care’s 30th anniversary, is set to begin at 10:30 a.m., on the square.

Following the parade will be a flag raising at the park and a barbecue. Park activities go from 1-3 p.m., featuring PEO pie sales, face painting by the Sandy Creek Cheerleaders, and karaoke/talent show.
There will also be a scavenger hunt around town. The first clue is at the karaoke sign-up at 1 p.m. Participants should complete and turn in all clues by 3 p.m. to be entered into a drawing for three prizes at 3:15 p.m.
A watermelon feed, hosted by Critter Care, begins at 2 p.m., at the park, while the party at the pool starts at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Sand volleyball and the home run derby for kids and adults begin at 1 p.m., at the ballfield. There is a $5 fee per person for the home run derby.
Pittbull BBQ will be at the ballfield from 3-8 p.m. Fireworks will be at dark.
Saturday, July 5, will feature a golf tournament at Crooked Creek Golf Club, and a street dance at the Legion.
