Harvard UCC is hosting the 14th annual 5K/1 Mile Run/ Walk for Harvard Youth at 8 a.m., Saturday, July 26.
Both events start simultaneously west of the East Park near the Harvard Public Swimming Pool at the intersection of Walnut and N. Harlan Ave.
The entry fee is $20, with registration set for 7-7:50 a.m., on race day. Larger donations are appreciated. Register at Chuck and Roberta Conway’s garage near starting line.
Entry fees support the Harvard Methodist/UCC Youth Group which is open to all sixth-12th graders in the Harvard area.
The 5K event includes 1.8 miles on gently rolling hills on a gravel road. Updates on “Harvard UCC 5K & 1 Mile” Facebook page thanks to Ita Mendoza.
Prize Money 5K only:
• Male and Female winners, $100, each, provided by the Harvard Lions Club;
• Male and Female Masters (over 40), $50 each provided by Aurora Co-Op;
• Overall Male or Female Winner who breaks the course record (5K only), $100 each (Harvard UCC); and
• Winning teams of four finishers in the following categories: High School, College, Business, open receive trophy and $100 per team (no money for high school/college to maintain eligibility).
Guest speaker Stacy Stodden, from StretchWell, will talk from 9-9:20 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony.
