During the second round of the Area 5 District Tournament in Albion July 26, the Ord Post #38 Seniors dropped Sutton 7-5.
Ord kicked off scoring with one run in the top of the first inning, adding another three runs in the top of the second.
Sutton’s first run came in the bottom of the second inning via Kaleb Ostrander. Their second run came two plays later when Carson Mau scored on a passed ball.
Another run for Ord came in the fourth inning, while Sutton tied everything up by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
The tie remained throughout the fifth and sixth innings until Ord gained two runs in the top of the seventh, leaving Sutton with the loss.
Along with Ostrander and Mau, Caleb Reiners, Wyatt Pollet, and Aiden Jones all scored one run.
Three Sutton players served as pitchers, including Payton Reed, who pitched for four and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits, five runs, and striking out seven.
Jones pitched for one inning, allowing one hit and striking out one; DJ Hajny pitched for a little over one inning, allowing one hit, two runs, and striking out two.
