John Deere is featured tractor at Old Trusty Sept 6-7

The 43rd annual Old Trusty Show is set for Sept. 6-7, at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Clay Center, featuring John Deere as the top tractor, engine, and equipment for the year.

Cost of entry is $10 for adults, $1 for ages 6-12, and kids 5 and under are free (per day).

SATURDAY, SEPT. 6

Food stands open to the public at 6:30 a.m., with the flag raising and shows opening at 8 a.m.

The team draft horses and mules will be on the track in front of the grandstand at 9:30 a.m.

Gracie’s Uncle will perform a free show at 5 p.m. near the 4-H building (former shade tree area by the old 4-H building).

SUNDAY, SEPT. 7

Sunday starts with a pancake breakfast in the food stand from 6:30-9 a.m., with the flag raising and displays/ flea market booths opening at 8 a.m.

There will be a church service near the 4-H building at 9 a.m.

Full Circle will play under the former shade tree area at 11 a.m. The Harvard Community Club will have a country pork barbecue at 11:30 a.m., on the west end of the grandstand arena.

HAPPENING BOTH DAYS

Visitors can see the ensilage chopping and corn shelling machines beginning at 10 a.m., as well as see “Big Allis” in the Ag Hall, visit the Clay County Museum for their quilt show from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

A parade will take place at 1 p.m., with the grand marshals to be honored. Then, at 2:30 p.m., many events begin, including threshing and baling straw in the west parking lot; stock antique tractor pull (1959 or before), farming with horses in the northwest area of the parking lot; and the kids pedal tractor pull (ages 12 & under) at the grandstand.

In between events, browse the many antique tractors, cars, engines, and other equipment, as well as the booths set up around the fairgrounds.

The show will close at 5 p.m.
