The gospel of God

The Gospel of God is not about you. It is not about who you are. It is not about what you have done. It is not about how or what you “feel” about Jesus. It is not about your “testimony.”

The Gospel is not that you “received Jesus into your heart.” The Gospel is not about your tears or you saying you’re sorry.

The Gospel is the objective declaration of God in Scripture. That Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. That Jesus Christ is Lord, the conquering King. That Jesus Christ fulfilled all the righteous demands of God’s law in the place of His people. That Jesus Christ died in the place of sinners as the punishment for their sins.

That Jesus Christ arose from the dead on the third day as the only source of everlasting life. That Jesus Christ ascended into heaven. That Jesus Christ now sits at God the Father’s right-hand and is ruling the nations.

The Gospel is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is God’s Good News to the nations. The Good News that Jesus Christ is the way of reconciliation, satisfaction, holiness, righteousness, and forgiveness.

Now, considering this Good News, the Gospel of God, run to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. There is no other Savior given by God. Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and men (1 Tim. 2:5).

Jesus Christ is the only Way, Truth, and Life. No one comes to the Father but through Jesus (John 14:6). Jesus Christ is the only name given under heaven among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

And Jesus Christ has declared this promise, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37). Run to Jesus for He is mighty to save.

As the hymn writer wrote: “Come, every soul by sin oppressed, There’s mercy with the Lord; And He will surely give you rest, By trusting in His word. Only trust Him, only trust Him, Only trust Him now; Refrain: He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now. For Jesus shed His precious blood Rich blessings to bestow; Plunge now into the crimson flood That washes white as snow. Come to Jesus, come to Jesus, Come to Jesus now; Refrain: He will save you, He will save you, He will save you now.”
