Recent Sutton graduates Trinity Elliott-Piersee and Rosemary Reyes competed at the National Ed Rising Conference in Orlando, FL, June 26-30.

In February, the girls qualified for the national competition by finishing second in the Interactive Bulletin Board competition at the State Educators Rising conference in Kearney.

Their bulletin board called, Fishin for Addition, was used various times in competition and in elementary classrooms at Sutton before getting their shot at the national level.

Although they did not get placed at the national conference the girls stated that the experience was such an amazing opportunity to explore their passion and dreams of becoming future educators.

Sutton is just one of many area schools who began their Educator Rising’s program through ESU 9 in Hastings’ Grow Your Own Program.

With the teaching shortage affecting many school districts, the Grow Your Own program was funded by grant money to help encourage small schools to provide educational courses during high school for students with an interest in pursing an Education Career.
