Fillies dominate Fillmore Central last week

The Sutton Fillies ran their season record to 14-8 Tuesday, Sept. 30, with a straight sets dominating win over Fillmore Central, which is Sutton’s second win over the Panthers in as many weeks.

Sutton opened the night with a 25-6 win in the first set, then claimed wins of 25-18 and 25-16 in the final two sets.

Sutton was powered by eight ace serves and 37 kills on the night, with Kamryn Steinhauer and Kyla Griess both gaining three aces each, while Avery Smith and Elsa Andersen both gained one ace.

As a team, Sutton served just over 94 percent in the match, converting on 69 of 73 serves.

Sutton hit at a .278 clip as a team, with Steinhauer leading the way with nine kills, while hitting .368. Katie Baldwin hit .100 and downed eight kills, while Miranda Nuss hit a team-high .545 with six kills.

Jadlynn Kinney gained seven kills in the win, while Kayden Kauk put down four.

As a team, Sutton was 78-90 on the attack (86.7%).

Guiding the offensive attack at the net was Avery Smith with 20 assists, as she was a perfect 39-39 in the match, while Andersen put up eight assists, and Camden Mau, two.

Defensive leaders on the night proved to be Steinhauer with 14 digs, and Griess with 12, and Baldwin led on the block with two.
