Cougars earn #3 seed in playoffs

Sandy Creek moves to 7-1 with 71-0 shutout win over the Southern Raiders

Sandy Creek finished the 2025 regular season on a high note with a dominating 71-0 win over the Southern Raiders Friday, Oct. 17.

The Cougar offense was rolling to start the game and throughout, as the first points scored came on a 14-yard pass from Kamerin Sealey to Wes Biltoft for a 6-0 Cougar lead.

The Cougars added three touchdowns in the first quarter, with Kaeden Schmidt scoring on an 11-yard run and converted for two points (14-0). Sealey then ran a score in from two yards, followed by a pass to Logan Tomky for another two-point conversion, pushing the lead to 22-0.

As the first quarter was coming to a close Sealey wizzed a pass out to the flat to Tomky, where he would run down the sideline for a 36-yard score, with Biltoft grabbing the two-point conversion making it 30-0 with 1:24 left in the first quarter.

The Cougars started with excellent field position on their first drive in the second quarter at the Southern 30. Sealey ran the ball in from 30 yards out for six, with Ben Burger drilling an extra-point kick to set the game at 37-0, Sandy Creek.

The next Cougar possession, after the first couple plays went nowhere and backwards Sealey found Wyatt Hemberger down the field completing the pitch and catch for a 30-yard score to make it 43-0 with 5:45 left in the first half.

Sandy Creek started out around mid-field next possession and would take a couple plays to score before Sealey found Biltoft on the check down and Biltoft would break a tackle and run it in for six’ Burgers kick was good to make it 50-0 Cougars.

Sandy Creek wouldn’t score again until late in the third quarter when Jedt Livegren scored on a 30-yard run to make it 56-0 with 1:31 left in the third quarter.

Evan Swartzendruber joined in on the scoring action with a seven-yard touchdown run. The PAT from Burger was converted to give Sandy Creek a 63-0 lead.

Then on the Cougars’ final possession on offense, Brockett Reed hit an open hole to run it in for a 25--yard touchdown, while also adding the two-point conversion to make the final for the Cougars 71-0.

Offensively, Sealey passed for 211 yards, completing 11 of 16 passes and four touchdowns.

Tomky was the leading receiver for the Cougars, hauling in three passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. Biltoft scored on both of his receptions, covering 54 total yards, while Schmidt hauled in four passes for 42 yards.

Rounding out the passing game was Hemberger, who had two catches for 41 yards, and the one touchdown.

On the ground Sealey led the charge with 80 yards on six carries and two scores. Livgren scored once and gained 44 yards on four carries, while Reed covered 31 total yards on two carries and a touchdown.

Swartzendrubber scored once and gained 20 yards on four carries, while Schmidt had one carry for 11 yards and a score.
