Sutton Fillies Golf, after venturing into their second straight Class C state golf tournament with their second straight C-1 District championship in Lincoln Monday, Oct. 6, took to the road, headed west for North Platte’s Lake Maloney Golf Course for a battle in the Class C state tournament Monday, Oct. 13, and Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Minden ran away with the team title, winning by 63 total strokes over second-place Scotus Central Catholic of Columbus, as the Whippets ended play with a 649, compared to a 712 for Scotus.

Sutton, after the dust settled on the tournament, finished sixth overall with a 762, as West Holt placed third with a 741, Adams Central was fourth with a 743, and Grand Island Central Catholic shot a 749 to place fifth, just 13 strokes ahead of the Fillies.

OCHSNER SETS NEW STANDARD Senior Mia Ochsner took on the 36 holes of golf over the course of two 18hole rounds both days and attacked the course for a new school record performance at state.

Ochsner finished play with a collective score of 177 total strokes, shooting scores of 90 and 87 during the two days of action.

Her total score became the new standard at state for the Fillies’ program, beating the previous best two-day score set last year by Chloe Bergen, who carded a 186 during the 2024 state meet.

Ochsner opened her play Oct. 13 with a 90, shooting scores of 46 on the front nine, and a 41 as she came in on the back nine.

On day two, facing rain and cool temperatures, Ochsner remained steady and calm, carding scores of 43 on the front and 44 on the back to finish day two with an 87, brining her two-day total to 177.

Ochsner finished the tournament just two strokes and two places short of medal contention in North Platte.

OHRT IS 2ND ONTHETEAM Junior Shepleigh Ohrt followed Ochsner’s outing with a two-day, placing in a two-way tie for 31st overall with Makenna Treffer of Ravenna.

Ohrt fired a strong 90 during the first day of action with scores of 49 on the front nine, and rebounding to shoot a 41 on the back nine, of which, her first-day score included a pair of birdie holes, shooting one under par on the first and sixth holes during day one.

Weather played a big part of Ohrt’s day two scoring, as she ended the day with a 99 with scores of 47 on the front and 52 on the back, to end the two-day tournament with a 189.

MOORETIES FOR 43RD

Senior Laurel Moore ended her high school career in a two-way tie for 43rd place with Kaelyn Schmidt of Lincoln Lutheran, as both ended their two-day run with identical scores of 195.

Moore, behind scores of 47 on the front and 49 on the back, ended day one with a 96. She then wrapped up day two with a 99, shooting scores of 48 on her first round of nine holes, and carded a 51 on her final nine holes to total 195 strokes during the tournament.

GEORGETIES FOR 55TH

Addison George added the final score to Sutton’s total team score, as the senior ended up in a tie for 55th with Lincoln Christian’s Sydney Roehr, as both carded scores of 201 in North Platte.

George opened the tournament on day one with identical scores of 50 on both nine-hole rounds to finish with a 100.

During day two’s rounds, George shot a 51 on her first nine holes, and ended up with a 50 on her final nine holes to score a 101, ending her high school career with a 201.

JASNOCH,TREJOTEAM UP

Aniston Jasnoch and Isabella Trejo teamed up during the two-day run, as Jasnoch made her run at the Lake Maloney course on day one of the tournament, while Trejo took on day two for the Fillies.

Jasnoch finished day one with a 117, shooting scores of 63 and 54, while Trejo’s run at the course on day two would see her card a 109, with scores of 54, and 55.
