In perhaps one of the toughest weeks during the Clay County News’ Pigskin Picks football contest, Mike Schroetlin gained his second straight win during the final contest of the 2025 football season, edging out Gail “Oz” Griess for the win by way of the tie-breaker.
Both Schroetlin and Griess missed the same two games in the contest, as both selected Shelby-Rising City to beat Crofton, and Columbus Lakeview to trip Sidney, when in fact, Crofton and Sidney both earned semifinal wins in Classes D-1 and C-1.
In the tie-breaker, Sandy Creek and Plainview combined to score 75 points in the Cougars’ 53-22 win over the Pirates.
Schroetlin guessed that 80 points would be scored, missing by five points, while Griess predicted that 64 points would be scored, missing by 11 points to give Schroetlin the victory.
Four other entries missed four games.
