Parade of Lights is Dec. 1 in Sutton

With less than a month to go until the first Clay County Christmas event, the Sutton Chamber of Commerce and local businesses are gearing up for the Parade of Lights Dec. 1.

Weather pending, Santa will be ready for photos at 4:30 p.m. on the bench next to Paint and Paper Palace. He will be there until the start of the parade, then he’ll join the FFA Float and ride through Saunders Ave.

Santa will be dropped off at the Community Center for inside photos with kids.

Brown’s Grocery Store will have cookies to decorate from 4:30-6 p.m. The Sutton Library will have kids crafts from 4-6 p.m.

Waypoint Bank is hosting an open house and nacho bar from 4:30-6 p.m., while down the block, CPI will host an open house from 4-7 p.m., and Cornerstone Bank will have an open house from 5-8 p.m.

State Farm will have free hot dogs and chips, and Farm Bureau will host an open house.

Throughout the evening’s events, there will be free draft horse carriage rides available on Saunders Ave.

The annual lighted parade will begin at 6 p.m., traveling south down Saunders Avenue and ending at the Community Center.

At the Community Center, Quality Healthcare, Black Hills Energy, and Glenwood Telecommunications will be set up alongside many vendors—Trades of Hope, Crafting with Jacky, Ruby Rose Cupcakes, Boy Scouts, DIY with Crafty Sarah, and Scutes and Skeins.

Set up outside of the Community Center will be a couple of drink and food vendors.

There will be music provided by Dave Ely and Steve Schroetlin at the Legion from 6:30-8 p.m.
