Apple Cinnamon, Snickerdoodle, Coffee Vanilla, Maple Brown Sugar, Cinnamon Latte, and Frosted Cranberry all sound like great items to be served at brunch.

Whipped and Lit is a small, hand-crafted business found in Clay Center that offers skin care products and candles. The items are all made with natural, no-dyes, and edible ingredients. It is not, however, recommended to eat them.

Chainey Tompkin and Katie Kuehler recently made skin care products and candles. When asked what their inspiration was, they responded, “Whipped and Lit was born out of a personal need for allergy-friendly products. Frustrated with candles that triggered headaches and soaps that caused breakouts, we set out to create a solution.

“Our candles are carefully crafted to avoid headache-inducing ingredients, and our soaps are formulated to be gentle on sensitive skin, preventing breakouts. Beyond addressing these concerns, Whipped and Lit is also a way to share our deep passion for crafting with the world, offering products made with care and designed to bring joy to others.”

A few products that are currently offered are candles, wax melts, lip balm, sugar scrubs, and bath salts. More products will be offered as they are developed.

Kuehler and Tompkin have their own specialty- items, but they do help each other. Their products are crafted after their fulltime jobs have ended for the day or on the weekends. They share so much enthusiasm and joy sharing their products with others.

The products are tested before being released for sale. Family and friends are testers as they use the trial-and-error method. If the scent is too strong, does not melt properly, or does not set up correctly are some of the potential issues. If it does not meet approval, they start over till the product is acceptable.

When asked what the process was to complete a product or two, Tompkin shared the process for her basic candles: Start by melting the wax to 180 degrees; rest the wax till reaches 175 degrees; add fragrance(scent) and stir for two minutes; set until the wax reaches 140 degrees; pour into jars; and then set aside to cure one to two weeks. Fifty candles takes about 12 hrs to process.

Kuehler shared the process of her favorite product: the Sugar scrub-snickerdoodle scrub.

Using sugar, brown sugar, Castile soap, coconut oil, and vanilla, all ingredients are mixed with a hand mixer and then poured into jars. Twenty-three scrubs take about six hours to complete.

Kuehler added that the lip balm takes three hours to complete, and shower melts have a curing time of three days.

The products can be ordered by contacting Kuehler at 402-705-6268 or Tompkin at 402-469-7517. They can ship items, but allow for extra time for delivery during the holidays. They also deliver within a short distance, offer pickup at their homes, or can be located at a vendor show.

They are offering to make a Christmas or special occasion personalized basket; contact them to discuss pricing or products. Watch for future products as they are always looking to add to their menu.
