Sutton girls cruise past H&H 65-14
Kyla Griess breaks Sutton’s career assist record in victory over the Bearcats
The Sutton Fillies ran their early season record to 3-0 Tuesday, Dec. 9, with a commanding 65-14 win over the H&H Bearcats in Henderson.
Sutton hit the Bearcats hard, early, and often, outscoring H&H 28-5 in the first quarter and 27-2 in the second to post a 55-7 halftime lead.
Sutton then backed off in the second half, outscoring the Bearcats 10-7 to claim the 51 point victory.
Isabella Trejo poured in a team-high 15 points, shooting 70 percent from the floor, as she was 7-10 from the field.
Following Trejo was Avery Smith with seven, while Kamryn Steinhauer, Kyla Griess, Addison George and Julie Smith all hit for six, with Jadlynn Kinney and Camden Mau both adding five.
In all, 12 Fillies scored, as Sutton was 24-52 as a team from the floor (46.2%), while sinking 10 of 16 free throws (62.5%).
Kali White led the Fillies on the glass with five rebounds. Avery Smith gained four boards, while Jadlynn Kinney gained three.
Mau and Griess dished out four assists each. Griess’ assists against H&H were enough to give her a new school record for career assists, breaking the old record of 192 with her 196 total assists to date.
Griess also had six of Sutton’s 22 steals to lead the team.
