G/H girls on a roll, win 2 of 3 last week

Despite a close loss to Dorchester Dec. 16, the Giltner/Harvard girls made up for it by winning against High Plains and Grand Island Lutheran Dec. 19-20.

Following the tipoff against Dorchester, Giltner/ Harvard took the lead, ending the first quarter 9-5, before both teams hit double digits in the second.

G/H held a narrow lead, 24-23, after G/H earned 15 points and Dorchester, 18, in the second quarter.

In the second half, G/H continued with their efforts to keep the lead, gaining 11 points in the third quarter, as the Longhorns fell short with seven.

However, a turnaround in the final period left G/H with the loss, as Dorchester earned 15 points and G/H, seven, giving the Longhorns the 45-42 win.

The second quarter saw the home team girls score low, only earning four points. The Storm took over, scoring 16 points and ending the half with a 27-21 lead.

A second-half, thirdquarter opening run of 15-11 narrowed the lead High Plains had over G/H to 3836.

A final push in the final quarter gave way to a Giltner/Harvard win, as the home team scored 18 points over HP’s seven, for a 54-45 win.

It was a fight until the end, with G/H having a narrow lead by the end of the first quarter, 12-8.

A 10-10 second quarter allowed G/H to maintain a slim lead heading into halftime, 22-18.

Opening the second half was a good run by GI Lutheran, earning 15 points in the third over Giltner/ Harvard’s 13.

G/H hung on to the lead, however, heading into the final period 35-33.

Finishing strong, the G/H girls gained 20 points in the fourth quarter, as GI Lutheran had 14, ending 5547. Giltner/Harvard (3-3).........12 10 13 20 -55 Grand Island Lutheran........8 10 15 14 -47 *No further stats were available by press time.*
