SC girls improve to 7-0, roll past Wilber- Clatonia and EMF late last week

The Sandy Creek girls basketball team ran their season record to 7-0 and entered the Class C-2 state rankings at number three following the third week of the 2025-26 basketball season with wins over Wilber-Clatonia and EMF late last week.

The Cougars hit the road to earn a 56-36 win at Wilber-Clatonia Friday, Dec. 16, before returning home to gain a 59-27 win over EMF Saturday, Dec. 17.

In their clash at Wilber, the Cougars outscored the Wolverines 19-2 in the first quarter and never looked back, holding leads of 37-13 at the half, 46-25 at the end of the third before closing out the 56-36 Southern Nebraska Conference win.

Carrigan Rempe and Emma Fisher combined for 31 points, as Rempe hit for 16 and Fisher for 15. The Cougars were 22-46 from the floor, and 5-10 at the foul line.

Madison Shaw finished the game with eight points, while Emersyn Pohlmeier added seven to lead Sandy Creek.

Caitlyn Biltoft had a team-high six rebounds, with Zarriana Witherspoon grabbing five, Fisher, four, and Rempe three.

Shaw dished out five assists and Paige Biltoft, three, while the steal charts were led by Shaw, Paige Biltoft, and Emersyn Pohlmeier with three each.

Saturday’s afternoon battle with EMF gained the Cougars a 32-11 halftime lead, before Sandy Creek went on a 27-16 second-half run to secure the 59-27 victory over the Bobcats.

Fisher and Rempe again paced Sandy Creek offensively with 15 points each, with Shaw hitting for 13 more.

Caitlyn Biltoft added six, and Pohlmeier five as the Cougars shot 42 percent from the floor, hitting on 21 of 50 total shots.

At the foul line, Sandy Creek was 10-17 (58.8%).

On the boards, Fisher gained eight rebounds, Caitlyn Biltoft, seven, Rempe 5, and Paige Biltoft, four. Sandy Creek held a 33-21 advantage on the glass.

Paige Biltoft dished out six assists, with Shaw gaining five, and Fisher, four.

Leading in steals were Shaw with four and Rempe, three.
