“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” ~2 Corinthians 8:9 The simple truth of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ came into this world to live a perfectly righteous life and then to die on a cross as an atonement for sinners given to Him by His Father (John 6:39).
And even as an infant in the manger at Bethlehem, the depth of our poverty was already laid upon Him.
He was born under the poverty of our sins, which would one day cause Him to cry out, “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” Do you know the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ in His living and dying for your sins? Has God’s grace taken hold of your soul? Are you trusting solely and completely in the Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of your soul?
Is your confession, “Nothing in my hands I bring only to the cross of Christ I cling”?
Do you stand before the cross where He bled and died in wonder, love, and amazement over the grace of God to save rotten, wretched sinners? Do you know God’s grace for yourself?
Take heed to the words of the hymn writer, “Weak and wounded sinner, lost and left to die, O, raise your head for love is passing by, Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus, Come to Jesus and live.” Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). Come to Jesus and live! Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). Amen!
