The Sandy Creek Cougars rebounded from a loss to Adams Central Tuesday, Jan. 6, and gained a decisive 61-33 win over Hastings St. Cecilia Thursday, Jan. 8, in Hastings.
Sandy Creek dominated the second half, scoring 18 points in the third quarter, 16 in the fourth, and limiting St. Cecilia to 14 second-half points.
Sandy Creek had three players score in the double digits, with Kamerin Sealey leading with 22 points, Wes Biltoft adding 15, and Christian Shaw picking up 10.
Logan Tomky added another six points, Wyatt Hemberger had three points, Asher Eitzmann and Sam Watts had two points each, and Mason Johanson had one point.
The Cougars finished the night off with 37 total rebounds, with 24 coming from the defensive side and 13 on the offensive side. Sealey led with seven caroms, with Wyatt Livgren gaining six, while Sam Watts, Biltoft, and Shaw pulled down five each.
The Cougars also totaled 18 assists, 13 steals, and one block. Tomky dished out seven assists, and Sealey, five, to lead, while Sealey gained four steals and Tomky, three.

The Cougars improved to 9-4 on the season with a win Saturday, Jan. 10, over the St. Paul Wildcats, 59-38.
Sandy Creek led from start to finish, boosted by Christian Shaw’s 16 points.
Kam Sealey added 14, Logan Tomky, 11, Wes Biltoft, nine, Alex Watts, five, and Wyatt Livgren and Sam Watts scored two each.
Sandy Creek finished the night with 33 total rebounds, with 26 coming on the defensive side and seven on the offensive side. Tomky had a team-high nine boards, and Shaw gaining seven, with Sam Watts and Sealey both dishing out six.
Cougars also totaled 13 assists and three steals.
