The Sutton Fillies tacked on a pair of wins to their record last week with two runaway victories over Exeter-Milligan/ Friend and Fairbury.
The Fillies, behind a 42-21 second-half run against EMF, rolled the Bobcats 68-45, and a road trip southeast to Fairbury earned Sutton a 69-24 victory to stand at 12-4 as the Fillies stand ready to take on the field in the Southern Nebraska Conference tournament beginning Monday, Feb. 2.
Against the Bobcats on Tuesday, Jan. 20, the two teams were just two points apart at halftime, with Sutton holding the narrow 26-24 lead, but runs of 21-9 in the third and 21-12 in the fourth propelled the Fillies to the 23-point win.
Sutton shot right at 44 percent from the floor, making 22 of 50 total shots, including an 11-23 effort from three-point range (47.8%). Sutton was 1318 from the foul line (72.2%).
Defensively, the Fillies held EMF to just 37 shots on goal, with the Bobcats making 16 shots (43.2%). EMF had a tough night at the charity stripe, making just 11 of 25 total free throws (44%).
Avery Smith and Isabella Trejo combined for 32 of the Fillies’ 68 points, with Smith hitting for 17 and Trejo, 15.
Adding to the scoring was Jadlynn Kinney with eight, Camden Mau with seven, while senior Kyla Griess was welcomed back to the line up following an injury that kept her off the floor for 10 straight games, also hitting for seven points.
Julie Smith keyed the rebounding effort for Sutton with a team-high four, while Kaci Yost, Kamryn Steinhauer, and Kali White gained three each.
Avery Smith, Jadlynn Kinney, and Mau dished out two assists each, while Griess gained five steals to lead, with Yost gaining four, and White, three.

Sutton’s trip to Fairbury Thursday, Jan. 22, would see the Fillies outscore the Jeffs in each of the four quarters to gain the 45-point win.
Sutton led 22-15 after the first quarter, 43-17 at the half, and outscored the Jeffs 26-7 in the second half to gain the SNC victory.
Griess was bombs away in the win, scoring 18 points, while shooting at a 66.7 percent clip, making eight of 12 total shots.
Mau pumped in 10 points, while Trejo added, nine, Kierra Ebert, eight, Avery Smith, seven, and White, six.
Sutton was 29-59 from the floor (49.2%), but struggled at the foul line, making three of 10 (30%).
The Fillies defense again held strong, holding Fairbury to just 26 total shots, making nine, to shoot just 34.6 percent.
White ripped down a teamhigh seven rebounds, with Julie Smith and Griess both gaining three.
Addison George led Sutton with five assists in the win, with Griess gaining four. Griess made five steals to lead the Fillies.
