Cougars move to 12-4 with big wins over Thayer Central and H&H last week

Sandy Creek’s boys basketball team surged to 12-4 last week with dominating wins over Thayer Central and H&H, as the Cougars rolled the Titans 57-29, Jan. 20, before clawing their way past the Bearcats 77-48, Jan. 23.

Sandy Creek opened their win over Thayer Central with a 24-13 first-half scoring spree, before closing out the home win over the Titans with a 3316 second-half run to register the 28-point victory.

Kamerin Sealey hit for 21 points in the win, with Wes Biltoft adding 10, while Logan Tomky and Sam Watts both adding seven each.

Sandy Creek was 24-61 from the floor (39.3%), and hit on four of nine foul shots (44.4%).

Rounding out the scoring for the Cougars were Wyatt Hemberger and Christian Shaw with five each, while Asher Eitzmann added two.

Biltoft added 10 rebounds to go with his 10 points to lead the Cougars, with Sealey gaining seven, Tomky, five, and Sam Watts, four.

Sealey and Tomky had four assists to lead Sandy Creek, while Sealey and Hemberger both had five steals.

Sandy Creek’s trip to Hampton to take on the H&H Bearcats earned the Cougars a 33-29 halftime lead, before Sandy Creek’s offensive efforts exploded in the second half with a 44-19 second-half surge to claim the 29-point win.

Sam Watts guided the Cougar offense with 20 points, with Biltoft gaining 16, Shaw, 13, and Sealey, 10.

The Cougars shot right at 50 percent from the floor, going 32-64 overall, while hitting on six of seven foul shots (85.7%).

Logan Tomky finished with nine points, Hemberger added six, and Wyatt Livgren, three.

Sam Watts also led on the glass with eight rebounds, Biltoft gained six, and Shaw, four.

Sealey led in both assists and steals, dishing out eight assists, and gaining five steals.
