Pohlmeier receives John Deere Technician of the Year Territory Champion

Greg Pohlmeier’s journey as a John Deere Technician began at Landmark Implement when he was a junior in high school, sweeping the floors and taking out the trash.

His farming background started at the age of 10, learning about farm life and tending to row crops, livestock, fixing farrowing houses, and the most important lesson taught, was responsibility.

Just recently, the Lawrence native and JD technician of 23 years received the John Deere Technician of the Year Territory Champion. This award is based on representing John Deere values of technical ability with high skill in diagnostics, repairing, and advanced technology, leadership in being a role model for other technicians, and customer loyalty by developing a strong rapport and positive customer feedback.

The award process starts with each John Deere dealership nominating their top technicians who display internal excellence and meet training requirements.

There are hundreds of nominees across North America. Only 100 blind reviews are selected from the first nominees for the territory champion choice.

During the review process, the judges, who consist of peer dealers and John Deere field teams, evaluate the nominations based on how well candidates represent the following key components:

• Customer Service (Exceptional support, going above and beyond);

• Mentorship (Guiding and developing colleagues); • Community Presence (Positive impact on their local communities); and

• Passion and Work Ethic (Dedication to their career, customers, and brand).

Pohlmeier’s passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to his job and community are genuinely felt. He feels very strongly about providing his best to others through teaching skills, guidance, respect, patience, and courtesy he brings to the students, coworkers, and customers.

Printed on Pohlmeier’s award announcement, it states, “Integrity, Partnership, Trust, Commitment, Value, and Quality. He leads by example, supports his teammates, and goes above and beyond to keep our customers running.

“Whether it’s staying late to help a farmer during harvest or mentoring a new technician, Greg brings skill, heart, and humor to everything he does. This award celebrates his exceptional skill, dedication, and commitment to doing what’s right for our customers and our team.”

Pohlmeier’s favorite part of his job is “when a piece of equipment needs fixed and you have successfully completed the project.”

For students thinking about getting into agriculture equipment as a career, his advice is to research the college and the dealership programs that are compatible with each others’ goals. Also, look for the right college fit for you and your goals.

Pohlmeier is actively involved in his community by serving on the Lawrence Fire Department, Board of Directors of the Lawrence Golf Course, and other organizations.

A reception to celebrate this achievement will be from 3-5 p.m., Thursday Jan. 29, at LandMark Implement near Fairfield.

Greg Pohlmeier was named the John Deere Technician of the Year Territory Champion. He has been a technician for 23 years and currently works at Landmark Implement in Fairfield. BECCY TESSMAN | CLAY COUNTY NEWS
