The Sutton boys track team took on their third meet of the 2026 track and field season, the Thayer Central Inivte, with the Mustangs gaining four medals on the track and two more in field event action.
Sutton finished seventh as a team, scoring 35 total points, with Tri County outscoring the host Titans 146-107.
The meet opened with Max Huxoll claiming a pair of medals in the field events, placing third in both the long jump and the triple jump.
Huxoll sailed 20’ 7” in the long jump for bronze, while Thayer Central’s Blake Gunn captured gold with a 21’ 9” leap, and Tri County’s Keyton Reck placed second, just ahead of Huxoll with a 20’ 9” effort.
In the triple jump, Huxoll’s third-place leap covered 40’ 6.5”, with Nic Smith of Fairbury claiming gold with a 41’ 10” leap, and Gunn of Thayer Central sailing 40’ 11” to place second.
Individual events on the track were led by Keith Kliewer and Creighton Jones, with Kliewer placing second in the 400-meter dash with his time of 53.41 seconds. Gunn of Thayer Central won the one-lap sprint with a time of 52.84 seconds.
Kliewer and Jones placed fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash, with Kliewer sprinting to a time of 24.07 seconds, while Jones finished in a time of 24.54 seconds. The Titans Gunn also captured gold in this event time of 23.4 seconds.
Jones gained fourth place in the 100-meter dash with his time of 11.96 seconds. Keyton Reck of Tri County earned top honors with a winning time of 11.55 seconds.
Two relay teams, the 4x100 and the throwers’ relay teams earned top six honors on the day, with the 4x100-meter relay team, made up of Kliewer, Jones, Rexx Meyer, and Huxoll placing third overall with a time of 46.37 seconds. Tri County captured the win with a time of 44.81 seconds.
In the 4x100 throwers’ relay, Mason Ehly, Cash Parrish, Jesse Mohnike, and Eli Ladehoff placed third with a time of 53.31 seconds. Sandy Creek earned the win with a time of 52.29 seconds. No team points were earned in the event.
