Over 7,000 FFA members, advisors and guests invaded to Lincoln March 25-27 to celebrate the annual Nebraska State FFA Convention.
Members participated in general sessions, competitive events, educational tours, leadership workshops, and Career Fair and Expo. Events are held at Pinnacle Bank Arena, Haymarket area hotels and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus.
SUTTON
Sutton’s Chapter had several members honored, with the Food Science team of Camden Mau, Kamryn Steinhauer, Creighton Jones, and Zoe Salmon placing seventh overall in the division, with Mau earning a purple, while Steinhauer and Jones both finished with blue ribbons.
The Sutton Chapter, as a whole, also finished 10th in their “I Believe in Ag” contest.
State degree recipients proved to be Mia Ochsner, Laurel Moore, Cash Parrish, Brody Borgmann, Landon Scheidemann, and Korey Poppe.
State Choir recipients for Sutton were Breckyn Peterson, Eli Ladehoff, Julie Smith, Elsa Andersen, and Kayce Dietz.
Moore also earned a purple ribbon as part of Sutton’s Senior Livestock Judging team, while Parrish received blue, Nathan Griess, red, with Porter Ferrel also joining the team, with DJ Hajny serving the team as an alternate team member.
The Agriscience team included Kyler Ely, Johnny Hajny, Kierra Ebert, Brayden Griess, and Emma Scheidemann. Kyler Ely, Hajny, and Ebert all earned red ribbons on the team.
The Farm business team, made up of Aniston Jasnoch, Ely, Brayden Griess, and Travis Moore, earned a pair of red ribbons, with Jasnoch and Ely earning red.
In the People in Ag Poster contest, Quinn Robinson and Austin Althouse earned gold medals, while Broxton Ely earned a bronze medal.
Nathan Griess earned a bronze medal in senior public speaking, while in junior public speaking, Ely gained a silver medal.
The Ag Literacy Speaking contest earned silver medals for both Katelyn Griess and Adley Roemmich, and on the Junior High Quiz Bowl team was Addi Sterkel, Broxton Ely, David Mohnike, Brooks Ebert, with Katelyn Griess serving as an alternate on the team.
SANDY CREEK
Sandy Creek’s Ag Sales team, made up of Brielle Lipovsky, Paige Stengel, Jade VonSpreckelsen, and Carrigan Rempe placed fifth as a team, with Lipovsky finishing seventh out of 144 students competing.

State degree recipients proved to be Anna Paus, Emma Fisher, and Jadynn Vandeventer.
The Agronomy Team, of Alex Watts, Jackson Gerdes, Wes Biltoft, and Josh Spray finished 26th out of 60 teams.
Sandy Creek’s Natural Resources team, of Connor Calderon, Jedt Livgren, Brocket Reed, and Owen Spray placed 35th overall out of 77 teams.
Bindi Senske also received a bronze medal in Creed Speaking.
