Scramble format action for the Sutton Fillies golf team opened the 2026 season, Thursday, Aug. 20 in Central City.
Two teams competed in the tournament. The Division-1 team, made up by Breckyn Peterson, Isabella Trejo, and Shepleigh Orht won its division, as the Fillies trio finished with an 18-hole score of 71, to claim the win over second place EMF, who also shot a 71, with Sutton earning the win by way of a tie-breaker. Aurora finished third with a 73, Grand Island Central Catholic finished fourth with a 73, Grand Island Northwest finished fifth with a 74, while Central City was sixth with a 77.
The final three teams in Division-1 proved to be Fullerton (90), H&H (91), and Wood River (98).
Sutton’s Division-2 team was made up of Aniston Jasnoch, Molly McCroden, and Quinn Robinson. Together, the Fillies squad placed third with an 18-hole score of 82.
Winning Division-2 was Grand Island Central Catholic with an 80, Grand Island Northwest, by way of a tie-breaker, also shot an 82 with the Fillies, but gained the second-place spot over the Fillies.
Aurora was fourth overall with an 83, EMF’s Division-2 team was fifth with an 87, while Central City finished sixth with a 95.
Rounding out the Division-2 teams was Wood River with a 117 to place seventh, and H&H wrapped up the scoring in the division with a 128.
The Fillies were scheduledto play in the Doniphan-Trumbull Invite this past Tuesday, Aug. 25, before returning to their home course, Sutton’s Fox Hollow Country Club for tournament action on Thursday, Sept. 3, and hosting a quadrangular Sept. 8. The tournament play begins at 9 a.m., while quadrangular action is set to start at 3 p.m.
