As has been the case for the 2026 girls golf season, senior Shepleigh Ohrt paced the Sutton girls golf team in action at the Minden Invitational Thursday, Sept. 14.
Ohrt’s 18-hole 89 placed her seventh overall and helped Sutton place second as a team, trailing only Grand Island Northwest in the final team standings as the Vikings finished with a 355, while the Fillies wrapped up play with a 372 to hold off third-place Grand Island Central Catholic by seven strokes.
Ohrt began her day with a 45 on the front nine and closed out the day with a 44.
Senior Breckyn Peterson and junior Aniston Jasnoch were also medalists for Sutton, finishing in the top 15 of the tournament.
Peterson shot scores of 50 and 41 during the tournament to finish with a 91 and place 12th, while Jasnoch had scores of 47 and 46 to round out the day with a 93 to finish 14th overall.
Isabella Trejo and Molly McCroden fell short of medal contention, with Trejo shooting a 99 with scores of 51 and 48 on the day, while McCroden finished play with a 102 with her scores of 53 on the front and 49 on the back.
Team Scores: Grand Island Northwest 355, Sutton 372, Grand Island Central Catholic 379, Adams Central 389, Holdrege 393, Hastings High 394, Minden 411, Gibbon, Cambridge and Superior had no team scores.
Sutton was to take on the field at the Fullerton Invite this past Tuesday, before returning home for quadrangular action at the Fox Hollow Country Club this Thursday afternoon.
The first-ever Southern Nebraska Conference tournament follows on Monday, Sept. 28 at the York Country Club, with play in York set to begin at 10 a.m.
