The Sutton volleyball team ran their season record to 12-9 with a four-set victory over Fillmore Central in Geneva, Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The Fillies claimed the first two sets 25-20, and 25-14, before falling in set three to the Panthers, 25-21. Sutton rebounded to claim the match win with a 25-23 fourth set win in the Fillies’ lone match of last week.
Sutton hit .191 as a team with 44 total kills. Kamryn Steinhauer paced Sutton’s attack with a team high 16 kills, while Jadlynn Kinney and Katie Baldwin both had eight, and Julie Smith seven.
Setting up the hitters at the net was the duo of Camden Mau and Elsa Andersen, as the two combined for 36 of Sutton’s 41 assists. Mau gained 19 assists, with Ander sen putting up 17.
Serving leaders proved to be Dyvet Fonseca and Andersen, as both had two aces, with Kinney gaining one.
Fonseca was 26-27 serving (96.3%), Kinney was 18-19 (94.7%), Mau was a perfect 1818, with Andersen connecting on 14 of 15 serves (93.3%) Defensive leaders proved to be Smith with four blocks, Baldwin and America Hernandez both had three, while Claire Trejo, Mau and Steinhauer had one each.
Leading the dig chart was Andersen with 20. Fonseca put up 17 digs, while Kinney finished with 12 and Steinhauer, 10.
