Sutton is C-1 District runner-up Monday, Sandy Creek finishes 11th overall

The Sutton Fillies captured yet another trip to the Class C state golf tournament with a runner-up finish in the Class C-1 District tournament Monday, Oct. 5 at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in east Lincoln.

Sutton trailed tournament host Lincoln Christian by a mere four strokes when the smoke settled on the 18hole tournament, with the Crusaders holding a 360364 scoring edge over the Fillies.

Sandy Creek wrapped up their season Monday, placing 11th as a team, finishing play with a 485 and fall short of advancing a player to the state tournament in North Platte.

Sutton will head to the Lake Maloney Golf Club south of North Platte for two days of action, Monday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Senior Shepleigh Ohrt paced Sutton’s return to the state meet, finishing Monday’s outing in Lincoln with an 82.

Also finishing in the top 10 for the Fillies was Aniston Jasnoch and Isabella Trejo, as Jasnoch placed ninth overall with a 93.

Trejo also shot a 93 to finish in a two-way tie for 10th with Ashland-Greenwood’s Adelyn Harms.

Breckyn Peterson ended the day in Lincoln with a 96, while Molly McCroden placed 34th with a 106.

SANDY CREEK

For the Cougars, Karsyn Luckey led Sandy Creek’s efforts with a 21st place finish with a 99, shooting a ?? on the front, and a ?? on the back.

Lydia Pearce rounded out her day shooting a 101 with scores of ?? on the front, and ?? on the back nine.

Jocelyn MacCann placed 54th in the field with a 129, while Kinsli Bolte finishing 72nd overall with a 156.
