Shaw named statewide Believers & Achievers honoree

Sandy Creek senior Christian Shaw has been selected as one of 48 statewide honorees in the 2026–27 Believers & Achievers program sponsored by Currency and the Nebraska School Activities Association.

Shaw was among four Sandy Creek students nominated for the recognition, along with Keaton Corman, Morgan Petr and Josh Spray, according to the school’s announcement.

The program recognizes Nebraska high school seniors for academic excellence, participation in school activities and a commitment to citizenship and community service.

Each NSAA member school may nominate up to four students. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 on an unweighted 4.0 scale and participate in an NSAA-sanctioned activity.

Eligible activities include athletics, music, speech, debate, play production and journalism. Selection also considers academic honors, school and community involvement and a citizenship essay. Students’ commitment and contributions are considered, including service as student managers or stage crew members.

The 48 statewide honorees will be featured on a poster distributed to NSAA member schools, receive an award at an NSAA championship event and be invited to a banquet celebrating their achievements.

Eight of the honorees will receive $1,000 college scholarships from Currency. Sandy Creek’s announcement states the scholarship recipients will be announced in April 2027.

Shaw is the son of Brian and Julie Shaw of rural Fairfield.
