A monumental victory for the free world

This week, I traveled to France with a delegation of my congressional colleagues, led by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), to honor the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion on D-Day on the battlefields where 150,000 young men from the United States and our allies commenced the largest invasion by sea in the history of the world. 06/12/2024 12:00 AM

During this busy summer season with activities like baseball games, family pool days, lawn care, and graduation parties, I’m also focused on preparing Sutton’s 2025 budget to boost our economic growth and potential. Amidst all this hustle, I received sad news on Monday, May 20th: my friend Bob Solway passed away. 05/29/2024 05:00 AM

Recognizing emergency responders
Recognizing emergency responders
Recent severe weather and wildfire disasters in Nebraska’s Third District have highlighted the critical role the Americans who serve our communities as firefighters, police, emergency medical service workers, and members of the National Guard play in protecting our communities and property and saving lives. As the men and women who dedicate themselves to service in the face of tragedy, crime, and disaster watch over us across the country, our emergency services do not take time off. These Americans deserve to be honored. 05/22/2024 05:00 AM

As the school year grinds to a screeching halt...
This week brings the 2023-24 school year to a quick and abrupt halt, as all three school districts will close for the summer in the coming days, state track looms for athletes at Sutton and Sandy Creek this weekend, and as I write this, hot off the press, as they say, the Sutton boys golf team has advanced to the Class D State Championships as a team. 05/15/2024 12:00 AM

Pushing back on unworkable executive mandates
In 2014, President Obama famously said, “I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” telling the American people he didn’t care whether Congress had provided legislative authority for his favored policies— he would go it alone whenever he felt like it. 05/15/2024 12:00 AM

Another “end of the run” for soon to be graduates
Another “end of the run” for soon to be graduates
Graduating from high school is one of the first big steps each year for so many students, as they step up to take the next strides in life. This will be my 16th year of covering graduation ceremonies in Clay County, and each year, it is so different. The process, in many ways, are the very same with each school, but the feel and mood of each of our three county schools ceremonies are totally different. I anticipate that this year will be just the same. 05/01/2024 12:00 AM
