Plea Agreement Reached with Johnson

In Clay County District Court held Wednesday, Nov. 12, Kenneth Johnson reached a plea agreement with the state, ultimately bringing a plea of no contest to the charges against him. Johnson was originally charged with three counts of manslaughter and one count of being a habitual criminal for the deaths of three members of the Gary and Susan Isom family of Hastings in an accident during the early morning hours of Aug. 28. Following the plea agreement reached between Johnson, his court appointed attorney Michelle J. Oldham and Clay County Attorney Ted S. Griess, a sentencing trial for the no contest plea will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, in Clay County District Court beginning at 1:30 p.m.
