Shelley German was born October 6 1956, to Dwayne Elting and Beverly (Schlichtman) Elting in Hebron, Nebraska. She lived her childhood on a farm six miles south of Carleton. Attended a country school at Trinity Lutheran Church of Friedensau, Nebraska until the age of 10. Shelley finished her elemetary schooling at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Deshler. While attending Deshler Public High School, she met Craig. They married two years after graduation on June 21, 1976, in a garden wedding on her family's farm near Carleton. Two children sprang forth from this union, Stephanie Nga in 1980, and Levi Austyn in 1986. Shelley is survived by both of her parents, Dwayne and Beverly Elting, her brother, Tracy Elting and wife, Rosella, sister, Yvette and husband, Jeff Percival, spouse, Craig German, daughter, Stephanie and husband, Andy Frager, son, Levi German and wife, Beth and three grandsons, Aidan, Penn and Easton Frager. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and countless friends. Shelley began her nursing profession at Southeast Community College in Fairbury in the fall of 1974. She graduated with her nursing degree two years later and began her career of caring for others at Bethesda Care Center nursing home in Edgar. Her true passion  began in the form of a position in the Sandy Creek School system with her new employer, Educational Service Unit 9. Her position in the special education department evolved into a lifelong career in the mission field. A 38-year career changed and developed many times. ESU 9 had a greater need for Shelley's talents and passion within the Hastings School system. Her passion developed into a mission and had found its way into the homes, lives and hearts of the numerous handicapped children she was able to communicate with. This love of children and families was God's mission that personified Shelley's total being. Her legacy will live on in those many lives she touched, with her countless hours of unselfish caring and her infectious smile. Shelley spread her wings and went to live with her Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at the age of 58 years and 13 days.
