Sutton, NE, resident Linda Winter, 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Mary Lanning Health-Care in Hastings, NE. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE, with Rev. Harry Cross officiating. No visitation—cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later time. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com Linda Lou (Herbaugh) Winter, daughter of William L. and Beula M. (Kennedy) Herbaugh, was born on December 14, 1949, in Scottsbluff, NE. She was the youngest of six children and graduated from Hemingford High School with honors in the class of 1968. She received her secondary education at Parks School of Business in Denver, CO. In 1969, she married Wayne Sample of Hemingford, NE. They had three children: Michael William, Michelle Susan and Travis Eugene Sample. On September 19, 1981, she was united in marriage to Bill Winter in Sutton, NE. He brought to this union a daughter, Lisa Lee. In 1985, they were blessed with another daughter, Heidi Lynn. In addition to providing day care for five years, Linda was employed as a bookkeeper for many years at businesses including Dahlsten Truck Line in Clay Center, NE, Sun Mart Foods in Hastings, NE, and CPI in Grafton, NE. Linda was a member of a bowling league at Clay Bowl in Sutton, for many years. She was an avid football fan and enjoyed cheering on the Huskers and Broncos whenever they played. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, William and Beula; her daughter, Michelle; and three brothers: Bill, Bud and Dennis Herbaugh. She is survived by her husband, Bill Winter of Sutton, NE; children, Michael Sample of Denver, CO; Lisa Wenzel and husband, Adam, of Elmwood, NE; Travis Sample and wife, Shannon, of St. Louis, MO; Heidi Smidt and husband, Louie, of Fairfield, NE; six grandchildren, Hunter and Kaitlin Sample; Nicole and Stephanie Wenzel; Kirsten and Anna Struble; sisters, Elsie Haller of Hemingford, NE; and Joyce Overturf of Edgar, NE.
