Donna Faye Rheiner was born to Franklin Earl and Grace Leona (Boyle) Sumner on March 26, 1932, at O’Neill, NE, and passed away on Feb. 19, 2015, at her home in Geneva, NE, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and seven days. She was one of two children in the family. Donna was raised in Neligh, NE. She attended and graduated from Neligh Public School. She was a drum majorette during her high school years. In 1948, she married Kenny Johnson and to this union three daughters were born, Connie, Pam and Terri. Donna and Kenny moved to Geneva in November of 1963. On April 6, 1967, Donna married Robert H. (Bob) Rheiner. Donna worked at Jack & Jill and Wheeler’s as a clerk and worked at Heritage Crossings in the laundry department until her retirement. Donna was an avid bowler. She loved cooking, camping, reading mysteries, and working her crossword puzzles. Holidays were a special time for her as family gathered in her home. Her peanut butter cookies with chocolate stars were favored by all and everyone often fought over who got the last one. Donna also loved hummingbirds and has several in her collection. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and for her special smile. Everyone that met her loved her caring soul. She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Sumner; and granddaughter-in-law, Loni Glasscock. Donna is survived by husband, Bob of Geneva; daughters, Connie Vanschoiack of Geneva; Pam and husband, Alan Schroetlin of Sutton; Terri Goodwin and fiancé, Steve Mitchell of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren, Diania Crapson of CA; Michael Glasscock of Hastings, NE; JC and wife, Jennifer Goodwin, of Ada, OK; Heather Gebhards and special friend, Brian Gartzke, of Geneva; Travis (Trap) and wife, Ashley Goodwin of Ada, OK; Becky Miller of Lincoln, NE; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law Elizabeth Sumner of OR; step-granddaughter, Stephanie and husband, Curt Oie, of Lincoln, NE; step-grandson, Jeff, and wife, Holly Schroetlin of IL; six step-great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home, Geneva, NE, on Monday, Feb. 23, with Kim Dunker officiating. A selection of Donna’s favorite songs were sung by family friend Shelbi Clark Palensky. Honorary pallbearers were all of her grand and great-grandchildren. Internment of her cremains will be held at a later date. Memorials are directed to the American Cancer Society.
