Senior Nicholas Hohensee’s 15 points paced the Mustang offense in Fairbury, while Andrew Pawlowski and Tristan Sheridan both hit for nine.
Noah Johnson, who would score six points, led Sutton on the glass, bringing down 11 rebounds. Johnson also led Sutton in steals with five, while sophomore Tanner Peterson’s four assists led the charts for Sutton.
The Mustangs hit just over 40 percent in the game, sinking 15 of 37 shots, but would go scoreless beyond the three-point line, as Sutton missed all five of their trey’s in the game.
At the foul line, Sutton was a sluggish 60 percent in the game, going 15-25.
Tri County would go 12-36 from the floor (33.3 percent), while at the foul line, the Trojans hit on just 50 percent of their attempts, making just six of 12 foul shots.
The win advances the Mustangs to Thursday night’s 7 p.m., C2-3 final, where they will take on the Southern Raiders, a 58-53 winner over Thayer Central. Southern will hit the court with a 10-10 record as the tournament’s second seed.
The winner goes on a trip to the C2-2 District Final against either Aquinas Catholic or Cross County. Those two teams will play in the final of the C2-4 Sub-District tournament in York.
